Materials Collected for the Local and State Observances of the U.S. Bicentennial, 1976, and the Texas Sesquicentennial, 1986.
Bicentennial, 1976, and Sesquicentennial, 1986, 1992 with 1995 additions
In planning for the celebrations of the Bicentennial in1976, and the Sesquicentennial in 1986, Dorothy Depwe, who was a member of the Travis County Historical Society, did research to collect information to apply for Historical Markers for the Eanes Area. She also was on the local committee to plan for the observances of the centennials and for the dedication ceremonies for the markers.
This file collection contains the materials collected by her for the observances and the activities related to the celebrations locally and across the state.
This Depwe Bicentennial and Sesquicentennial Collection contains state wide and local published newsletters and newspapers, maps, souvenirs, flyers, plans, posters, pictures, and calendars (with excellent drawings of historical sites and people of Texas History.)
This material is listed in the Card Catalog of the Eanes History Center and in the EHC Locator/Index Notebook.
The pewter tankard and the flags were made to mark the Sesquicentennial of Texas in 1986. Celebrations were held across the state.
